How long is the training and how much does it cost?
Training takes anywhere from 2-6 weeks for our standard board & train programs, but training programs with customizations or special circumstances may take additional time. We also have a wide variety of pricing points on our programs which reflect the time, tools, direct support, and results you get. All details of time and pricing can be specified during/after an evaluation so that we can give an accurate estimate for training.
How do I chose the right program for my dog?
Everyone has different preferences and goals, and all dogs are individual in their needs. The big difference in our programs is the level of support you get following training, the level and number of skills your dog learns, the training tools you will go home with, and the results you will see in your day to day life! Think about our programs in a sense of minimum(Bronze), basic(Silver), advanced(Gold), and premium(Platinum)!
If your dog is struggling with more intense behaviors like aggression, fear, or anxiety- a behavior modification is best. Behavior Modification programs handle the problem behaviors and improve the dogs behavior as much as possible in their individual circumstance, and also include the Gold Program. This means relief from the intense behaviors and advanced obedience are handled in one fell swoop! It can't get any easier than that.
Where will my dog stay during their training?
Your dog will stay in our house with us which is part of what makes our programs the most exclusive Board & Train Programs in NC! Your dog will be directly integrated in with our daily activities and receive multiple one-on-one training and play sessions each day.
Your dog will not be spending most of the day in a kennel like it would be at a bigger training facility- However all dogs are crated when they are not being directly interacted with for safety purposes! We don't want any fights, accidental injuries, or ingestions of non-food items!
What will I need to start training?
Your dog will need to be fully vaccinated for their age (we will require proof), you'll have to do some paperwork and set up payment, confirm a start date and you're ready!
All we will need to start the program once that's complete is your dog and enough food for the duration that they will be here!
Will training make my dog act like a robot or lose their personality?
Nope! Dogs will retain their fun-loving and unique personalities, though you will be able to enjoy involving them in more of your life thanks to their new skills and excellent manners. The training program will enhance their understanding of boundaries and teach them to listen the first time, and we will provide you with the structure to have life-long results.
What if I want more or I need specific things trained?
We can do custom training programs or alter some of the specifics of our standard programs to fit your needs and the needs of your dog! Unlike most other trainers, we do not approach training with a "one size fits all" mentality. Every person and dog is different in what they want to do and what they can achieve! We appreciate the uniqueness of our clients and are happy to do individualized training.
What if my dog already knows a few things? They're not bad, but might need some sharpening up...
Most dogs come to us already having an idea of "sit" or "lay down", but are struggling with listening to their owners the first time or every time they give a command. Some dogs know a few commands, but won't listen unless their owner is holding a treat or there's no other people or dogs around. We also get quite a few dogs in that have worked with other trainers and their owners weren't quite pleased with the results . . .
We can help you! We want to get your dog to the place of solid obedience and focus and help you get back to enjoying your dog. Not just bad or aggressive dogs need training- good dogs need training too so that they can listen to their owners reliably and safely. We truly do make bad dogs good and good dogs better!
